Designated Employer Representative (DER) Training

Who is this class for:
|
This class is designed for those individuals (DERs) who are responsible for the administration of
their company’s DOT drug and alcohol testing program. It is designed primarily for those DERs
who are new program administrators and/or those that still do not feel adequate in their
knowledge of their responsibilities. It will provide information and guidance on how to set-up and
manage your program from beginning to end and help ensure DOT compliance. The class is
designed to coordinate with the DOT Record Notebook available through Midwest Toxicology.

- Explanation of DER’s role & responsibilities
- Overview of the drug testing process
- Understanding or developing your policy
- Random testing explanation & rules
- Test results & confidentiality
- Problem situations – what actions to take
- MIS annual reports

- Overview of 49 CFR Part 40 & mode rules
- Role of the TPA, MRO, Collection Site, Lab
- Pre-employment testing process
- Post-accident testing process
- Employee violations – what to do
- Recordkeeping requirements
- Audits – what to expect and how to be prepared
|
This class DOES NOT provide Supervisor Training. This DER class will start at 8:30 a.m. and end
around 2:30 - 3:00 p.m. (lunch is provided).
